Stop Working So Hard

Sarah Leach is an agency media planner and a Media director for COKE in UK. As she explains this job is not easy, but it is also not something someone should drive themselves crazy about either she gives about 5 steps to succeed in the career of a media planner. The first step she explained relates to the title of this blog, “really, honesty, truly, stop working so hard,” Sarah preaches to the audience that if you work too hard and too long it could basically drain you and your best work will be overlooked. She also explains that you are getting paid for thinking more than what you know, so there is no point in wasting all that time. The second step, “Client are human too.” staying up all night is unnecessary for you and your client can communicate with you other ways other than you working to hard and losing sleep, your client will understand. Your client will have to deal with you, and there is no way they would ant to deal with someone with little to no sleep. Sarah gives an example of the sitting on an airplane and who you would want to sit next to. Thirdly, she explains to the audience that the first 15 pages are the most important. The first 15 pages is not something that can be done just in one setting, and it is not something that should be easy, less story telling. Much time should be spent on it, it should perfected. Next she uses the word “myth busting” to explain how the relationship between you and your client should be more understood by both you and the client better. Sarah gives a few points on how to understand clients better: (1) its just different, and more grown-up and professional. (2) Hours are different, and shorter. Days are intense, and lastly (3) no reason for extended hours of work time, work at home. (3) No goofing around, no fun time. Last step, she explains is to not worry about your hair. Basically not to worry about your appearance in the workplace because people will not be interested in that, they are more interested in your intelligence.

Car Navigation V. Mobile GPS

Car navigation an mobile GPS are both maps and guides to lead people to and from their destination. They differ drastically considering they are two different devices cellphone and a navigation system. Using a cellphone there are many different apps to use and many apps that are helpful, like the “Maps” and this is a mobile GPS that will navigate user by typing in the address or simply clicking a shred location of others. This is fairly simple, and can be done just by a few clicks. Car Navigation systems are completely different considering that navigation systems only do simple things such as weather news, time, date and GPS. An automotive navigation system is part of the automobile controls or a third party add-on used to find direction in an automobile. It typically uses a satellite navigation device to get its position data which is then correlated to a position on a road. When directions are needed routing can be calculated. Maps app is used very quickly and can be used by voice or physically type in the address. User experience design is the process of manipulating user behavior through usability, usefulness, and desirability provided in the interaction with a product. Mobile GPS is easily made to manipulate people. It is very easy to do, and people will instantly put an address in their GPS instead of thinking about where the location is first. Navigation systems for a car are installed in newer cars, and this is manipulating as well. When people realize their is a navigation system that does pretty cool thing, similar things that your phone already does , they think it is neat and make that purchase. Original GPS systems were created before Maps apps on cellular devices, and they were not built into the cars they had to be brought seperately but this is when cellphones did not allow you to use GPS on the device. It was more useful before than it is now installed in a car.

Ninety-Nine Years Later

According to today’s statistics Coca Cola is Americas favorite, most popular soft drink. In 1985 The Coca Cola Company was decreasing profits slowly for 15 years. So the company knew they needed some type of change to improve Coke. The company made the decision to tweak the formula just a little bit and testing it out with with 200,000 consumers to test it, they called it the “New Coke.” I do not drink Coke, nor soft drinks either. So I would never understand the change and why people where so angry when the New Coke came along and picked with their taste buds. The Coca Cola Company increased on daily calls from 400 incoming calls to 1,500 a day. Customers were angry and they called whoever they had to and blamed every employee for this change. The anger of customers got Coca Cola’s attention and only 79 days later the Classic Coca Cola returned. Maybe the change did not help the company get out their hole but it got consumers attention and they began to purchase so much classic cola the numbers began to increase and become much better than the last results over a 5 year time period. People were so afraid that they would never taste the classic coke again they purchased up to 900 bottles in their basement. Honestly, Coca Cola did not expect for that launch of New Coke to fail a bad as it did. Once customers realized that the formula it got their attention and then they basically begged for the Classic Coke back and of course in July of 1985 it was back and sales continued to go higher each year. Consumers were satisfied and never wanted to let the down again. Although the goal was a fail it was still a memorable moment that caused so much controversy.

Mine is Better!

As I am sitting here on my laptop, trying to start this blog while I scroll on Instagram looking for new hair sites one website promotes a sale on more product, while the other promotes how they have different colors. Of course I want the hair that has a sale, I don’t care about the color! Many advertisements are made to one-up their competition to gain more business. Advertising should challenge norms rather than mirror norms, simply because new advertisements mirroring other advertisements will gain a little to no business. because society looks for “better” rather than the same. Society instantly compares issues, and debates on which is better. ” The social impact of advertising invites vigorous debate about what is positive and negative in the advertising process.” Society makes sure that they are informed on what is next, or what is better, and what i cheaper. If advertisements are based on what society looks for they will earn more profit, and possibly earn more profit from people who are switching products. For myself, there are many different situations where I pick something over the other because of price, quality ans quantity. Seeing an advertisement online of black boots that are name brand like UGGs and maybe cost $400, versus an online website that sales shoes such as JustFab where they have a “Get 2 pair for $35.99,” many people would want two cute pairs of boots rather than just one and spending more for one pair (I would!). Now, on the other hand other people may have an expensive taste and be fine with spending hundreds of dollars on shoes. Advertisements are to persuade audience and both do a good job, but they both have different goals which obviously means they cannot be mirroring each other. Not to mention, advertising should be challenging but some advertisements are made to mirror other advertisements, but have other goals to meet besides being better.

Digital Technology + Business Advertising

Before technology became so advanced and businesses began to use it to advertise their companies there were many other ways to get their business advertised. Billboards and newspapers being one of the most popular ways to advertise your business, people bought newspapers daily and took the same route home. Throughout history, advancements in technology have played an important role in how individuals are exposed to new information. In today’s life it is a lot easier to gain audience attention with advertisements using technology. For example, when using social media like Facebook and Instagram most businesses today pay a fee to promote their business on short commercial advertisements down users timelines. As a user is scrolling down their recent timeline things that users indulge in often will scroll pass an advertisement that the user is possibly interested in. If users in Facebook or Instagram search “nails” an advertisement with a nail salon, or a website where you can purchase press on nails may pop up on a timeline. These type of advertisements earn the company a percentage of money each time they are viewed. I would not think that advertising is any type of endangerment, only because an advertisement is just to gain more clientele for a business and nothing is wrong with that if you want a successful business. Eventually it may begin to take up too much money, but their are cheaper ways like back before there was technology, like newspapers. Now that technology is used more often than people buying newspapers, then newspaper business will have a decrease in sales and may need to find new ways to increase their sales. The plus is, either way anything is advertised the business that is gong to be advertised will still gain business from the community because their product is still being advertised. “No matter how much technology changes or how many new media options and opportunities are available for delivering messages—it’s still all about the brand! The use of Facebook or Twitter does not change the fundamental challenge and opportunity—communicating effectively about the brand and the brand’s values.” – Cliff.

My First Blog

Hi guys! This is honestly my first serious blog page that I tend to continue to use throughout my career. In the near future I will be a working as a paralegal to start my career in the law and government field. On this website and blog page I plan to inform audience about law, shortcuts to success, and many experiences down my timeline as I reach my goal to the aspiring criminal defense attorney I plan to be. I come from a single parent home, and also a family small family where no one has graduated a University with a bachelors. Although a lot of my family earned degrees outside of a University, they were all working in the medical field. I believe that my passion for my future career grows bigger daily, and I hope to excite my audience. Ever since I was a freshman in high school, I knew that I wanted to be an attorney. Going to a high school with a magnet program to give students a hands-on experience with a future career that they may be interested in. The program is very well and leads us to success. This blog is not to make people believe that they can be attorneys but to help people exploit ideas and maybe use some ideas here for your future career.
